New Parkinson’s Centre to open at Forest Glen
Queensland’s first purpose-built allied health centre, The Parkinson’s Centre, will be officially opened by Mayor Rosanna Natoli on 11 April 2025 in celebration of World Parkinson’s Day.
The Parkinson’s Centre delivers a coordinated care model tailored for people with Parkinson’s and their spouses who are informal carer partners. It offers expert one-on-one therapy, neuroactive group classes, Biostrength gym, and a Parkinson’s Education Centre all under one roof. Carers are supported through the Partner Connect™ Program, a free 8-week initiative funded through Carers Gateway.
A member of The Park recently said: “Before I came here, I didn’t know where to start,” says Allan, 71… “Now I have a Professional Team who understands Parkinson’s, and I feel more hopeful than I have in years”.
The centre was founded by Barbara and Rory Cullinan in honour of Rory’s parents — both of whom live with Parkinson’s. It offers the Parkinson’s community amazing support and has been described as “a world class centre right here on the Sunshine Coast”.
With over 25 years of experience in physiotherapy, Barbara and her dedicated team brings deep clinical insights and compassion to a centre designed to address the unique and often unmet needs of this community.
With more than 18,500 Queenslanders currently affected — and numbers projected to double by 2040 — this Centre is a timely and essential step forward.
