Framer adopts innovative approach to sporting display
When local business identity Mark Prosser’s ticket was drawn for the lucky door prize at the Coolum Beach Lions Club sportsman’s lunch, he knew he was very lucky indeed.
Mark won the Sherrin football and then acquired the signatures of Queensland Rugby League legend Petero Civoniceva and three-time AFL Brisbane Grand Final winner Alastair Lynch.
This meant that Mark was now in possession of a valuable sporting commodity.
Both stars were the speakers at the fundraiser and generously donated their signatures to the local charity.
Mark, the owner of Best Price Interstate Removals Australia, felt having the time off work to contribute to the worthy cause had given him a very generous payback.
“I enjoy supporting our local groups and winning the prize was a very welcome surprise,” he said.
Mark turned to Bill Gissane from Yandina Art & Framing to build a suitable mounting for the new trophy.
Bill worked with Dave Cunningham from Bent Plastics at Kunda Park in developing a novel method for displaying the mounted football, a photo of Mark receiving his prize and a plaque (from Apogee Sunshine Coast).
“There are many ways of displaying objects in a frame and the use of acrylic adds a new dimension that calls on imagination and artisanship,” Bill said.
On receiving the finished product, Mark was taken aback.
“I knew Bill and the team have performed some minor miracles, but this certainly exceeded expectations. I am looking forward to having this in pride of place at home,” Mark said. Yandina Art & Framing specialise in new and innovative methods for displaying memorabilia along with their military and sporting medal service.
“We really enjoy the challenges associated with the more advanced forms of framing and see every interesting job as a way of rising to the occasion,” Bill said.
