Woombye festival welcomes funding boost

Woombye’s popular Happy Days Festival has received a $13,750 boost from the Queensland Government, helping organisers plan ahead for an even bigger event in 2026.

Member for Nicklin Marty Hunt presented the cheque on Friday (May 23) to Woombye Community & Business Association (WCBA) President Milo Frawley, after the group was successful in the latest round of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.

Mr Frawley said the funding would make a significant difference.

“This takes a bit of pressure off both our organisers and our sponsors,” he said. “It’s a great start to preparations for next year’s event and allows us to think a bit bigger.”

The Woombye Happy Days Festival has grown steadily since its inception and is now a key celebration on the town’s calendar, bringing locals and visitors together for live entertainment, market stalls and family-friendly activities.

Mr Hunt congratulated the WCBA on its efforts and said he was pleased to support a community-driven initiative which helped promote pride and community spirit in Woombye.

The 2026 festival will return on the first Sunday in May.
