Thriving Families Dad Group strengthens father-child bonds in Nambour

Throughout 2024 Nambour Community Centre Thriving Families team has been hosting a monthly Dad Group.  This is an activity-based group event for Men who live in or around Nambour who care for a child, want to meet other families, have fun, and participate in discussions related to parenthood.  Two male social workers facilitate this inclusive and supportive environment which nurtures active and involved fatherhood and celebrates the important role of Dads.  Thriving Families Dad Group promotes healthy attachments between parents and children, empowers fathers to embrace their own parenting role, challenges gender stereotypes, and endorses better health outcomes for men and their families.

Dads that engage with Thriving Families Dad Group enjoy the ability to connect with their kids and other Dads during our group activities and discussion circles, and our workers love to provide opportunities and spaces for this to happen in for Dads and kids.  Previous activities have included, fishing, lawn bowls, pinball, and bird house making with the Nambour Men’s Shed.  Upcoming activities for the end of 2024 and beginning of 2025 include swimming and slides at Nambour Aquatic Centre, Rocket Science, Maroochy Botanical Gardens Walk and, Cooking with Kids pizza making.
