Reed House marks 15 years of service

Wishlist staff, volunteers, donors, Rotary Clubs and community members gathered at Reed House last week to celebrate 15 years of compassionate support for over 22,150 guests.

Reed House is available to patients, families and caters to those who need to stay close to a Sunshine Coast hospital while undergoing treatment, surgery or emergency stays.

Wishlist’s hard-working and passionate volunteers at Reed House make it a ‘home away from home’ for our guests.

Formerly known as Reed Charity House, the 20-room facility was built in 2009 as an emergency medical accommodation service for patients of Nambour Hospital and their families.

This has since expanded to support patients, families and carers who need to stay close to all Sunshine Coast hospitals.

Built by generous contractors and local construction company, RCQ, the impressive facility is the result of collaboration between The Reed Charity Foundation, Wishlist, the Australian Red Cross, local Rotary Clubs and the wider community.

In 2012, after three years of fundraising, the Doug Biggs Memorial Sky Bridge connected Reed House directly to Nambour Hospital to significantly improve access for patients.

In 2018, Wishlist resumed management to continue to enhance patient care across the Sunshine Coast, Gympie and the wider community.

After 15 years, Wishlist is excited to announce that Reed House will receive up to $100,000 of the profits of projects like the Wishlist House Gympie for a well-deserved renovation.
