Planning under way for showcase of the best of country life
Maleny Show 2024:
The year has only just begun but plans are well under way for the Maleny Show for 2024 thanks to the hard work of volunteers. This year’s dates are May 31 and June 1.
“Hopefully the rain will be done and dusted by then,” said Maleny Show President Lynda Burgess a third generation born-and-bred “Malenyite” having been involved in the community for more than 20 years.
“We are moving forward with a lot of things to happen in the next couple of months. As the President of the Society I wish to continue the advancement of the Show into the future, striving to keep the agricultural aspects of our region, bringing this to the fore and encouraging the next generation to strive to maintain those assets that set our community apart from our counterparts in the area.”
This year will commence with a stand at the Aussie Day Expo on January 26 and will highlight things such as the ability to purchase tickets to early events, Membership renewals, Sponsorship opportunities along with the chance to prepare entries into most of the pavilion sections with a hard copy of the schedule.
The official launch of the Show will be held Thursday February 15 at the Pavilion from 5.30 to 7pm. “This gives us the opportunity to introduce our stewards, thank our sponsors and volunteers as well as releasing our entertainment programme for 2024,” said Lynda.
The Show was fortunate this year to have a younger group named Maleny Millennial Moo’vers working behind the scenes.
“This group is currently organising a Country Bash to be staged in the Dairy Pavilion on Saturday March 16th.
“Tickets are online through the Show Society Website and these include, food, music, not only for adults but for families alike. Kids Jumping castles and Fairy Floss to boot.”
As for the Show itself Lynda said organisers had locked in the entertainment schedule for the two days. “The great news is that Bluey will be back for another couple of shows on Saturday, same as last year.
“We will have a lot more interactive activities for kids and younger persons within the Aub Cork entertainment arena.
“This will include a Science discovery activity along with Action Sports that will run Clinics for kids with BMX bikes and they invite the kids to bring in their bike and teach them safety and maintenance along with a range of other activities. This should help the youth of Maleny to occupy their spare time.”
There will also be the usual Fireworks and all the activities in the Main Arena including a great Wood Chop program, Dog Jump on Saturday afternoon and the Pavilion upstairs and downstairs.
