Maleny's Mad Hatter's fund procedure light for local hospital

Jo Howard & Dr Kyra Funk with the new procedure light.

Thanks to the fundraising efforts of the local art community, Wishlist has been able to purchase a $3500 mobile procedure light for more effective treatment of Maleny Hospital patients.

The Mad Hatter's Morning Tea in October 2023 saw the Maleny community come together to enjoy an interactive art installation morning tea and edible art exhibition showcasing local visual artists and food providores.

The event raised over $3000 which helped towards funding a much needed procedure light at Maleny Hospital, allowing health staff to treat wounds while maintaining patient comfort.

The light will be used in both the emergency department and general medical ward and will enabe staff to treat more complex wounds at Maleny Hospital, reducing the number of referrals to other facilites and allowing patients to recieve treatment closer to home.

Maleny Art Direct and Flaxton Gardens were instrumental in hosting the morning tea and have even bigger and better plans for 2024, stay tuned for more details on how you can be involved.

Watch Dr Kyra Funk and Jo Howard from Maleny Art Direct unbox the new procedure light.
