Carl’s career reaches new heights with Endeavour

“I love what I do, and I think the promotion felt like a natural progression; one I truly deserved.”

Whether he’s rocking out to thrash metal on the stage, or mastering forklift operations in the warehouse, you can be sure Sunshine Coast local Carl has it covered.

An employee for nearly a decade at Endeavour Foundation’s Business Solutions site in Maroochydore, Carl has worked diligently on the production line, packing products and in document destruction; developing his skills and progressing his career along the way.

His goal to move from supported employment into mainstream employment is a dream he recently achieved.

“I love what I do, and I think the promotion felt like a natural progression; one I truly deserved,” Carl said. “Everyone has been really supportive. When I got the promotion, my co-workers were as excited for me as I was.”

Remaining at Maroochydore Business Solutions, Carl’s new role involves working more independently and taking on greater responsibilities, from handling paperwork and computer-based tasks to ongoing training that keeps him up-to-date with company processes. He will also be training others in forklift operations, something he’s particularly excited about.

Endeavour Foundation is Australia’s largest employer of people with intellectual disability, employing around 2,600 people with disability across a broad range of jobs, enabling team members to live, learn, work and flourish according to their own interests and priorities.

Having worked with Carl for the last 10 years, production manager Andrew Dunn said he had no doubt his colleague would excel in his new role.

“It’s been a pleasure to witness Carl’s growth over the years,” Mr Dunn said.

“He is one of the kindest people you will ever meet. He’s dependable, trustworthy, and always coming up with ways we can improve,” he added.

And while Carl admits he’d love to have his favourite, heavier tunes blasting throughout the warehouse, he admits it might not be everyone’s cup of tea.

“A lot of the guys here like their ACDC and Cold Chisel, so we’ll probably stick to that,” he laughed.

Endeavour Foundation offers a range of pathways to help you to reach your goals, whatever they are.
