Newly elected Mayor Rosanna Natolli attended Business Yandina's celebration for small business month at The Rocks Function Centre Tuesday May 28.

Business Yandina President Bill Gissane welcomed the Mayor by emphasizing the highlights of the district's attributes.

"From the first nation's history to the original gazetted town in the region, it has been a fascinating journey to the vibrant place we are today," Bill said.

He pointed to the fascinating mix of natural beauty and business opportunities that characterise the area.

The Mayor gave an expansive description of her vision for the region in general and the district in particular.

The opportunities and challenges of a rapidly growing population were chief among her thoughts.

She also urged attendees to take advantage of the many methods of providing feedback to elected representatives.

"We need to hear from you" the Mayor said.

Deputy Mayor Maria Suarez (Division 9) and Councillor David Law (Division 10) also spoke.

Attendees were drawn from a wide cross section including Yandina and District Community Association (YADCA), Maroochy Landcare, Sunshine Coast Business Mentors and Yandina Station.

All were grateful for the opportunity to stay on and discuss issues of importance with their elected representatives.

"A critical part of our role is to represent the interests of the community directly to elected officials" Mr Gissane said.

"Tonight we had a terrific opportunity to achieve that aim and we are thankful for that chance.”
