Opportunity knocks: PCYC offers youth work program
PCYC Sunshine Coast is excited to invite young people aged 15 to 19 to apply for the Get Set for Work Program (GSFW) for the opportunity to gain nationally recognised training, learning support, and the skills needed to get a job or access further training.
What’s more, the program is delivered at no cost to participants and is tailored to meet the needs and goals of each person.
PCYC Youth Club Program Manager Sergeant Mick Hughes says PCYC Queensland has been working with young people for over 75 years and knows no two people are the same.
“We have a team of youth workers who can help young people map out their unique goals and achieve them at their own pace,” he said.
“Young people can also take advantage of other support offered at PCYC Sunshine Coast.
“GSFW is an important part of the suite of programs we offer to the Sunshine Coast community designed to give young people the support to meet their goals.
“In addition to a Certificate II accreditation, our team can assist participants with their driver’s licence, fitness goals, resume writing, job applications and developing their skills in preparation for employment or further education and training.”
Each 10-week GSFW program has around 10 participants and is offered on a rolling basis.
GSFW is part of the Queensland government-funded Skilling Queenslanders for Work program that gives young people who are disengaged nationally recognised training and support to gain employment and/or further education and training.
