Rain, hail or shine, you’re always welcome at Nambour Croquet Club

Patrick Farrell lines up a shot at Nambour Croquet Club.

Despite recent weather challenges causing soggy courts and disappearing marker lines, the Nambour Croquet Club remains a vibrant hub for enthusiasts.

“The fun of the game continues to draw players, with new members joining even as some long-time players retire their mallets,” said spokesperson Patrick Farrell.

“Some of our longtime players have decided to ‘hang up their mallets’ but fortunately new players are joining the club.

“If anyone would like to join us you can come along on a trial basis. The first four games are free, mallets are provided, but soft-soled shoes are a must. Morning tea is provided.

“We have coaches who will show you how the game is played. Also there are the benefits of being outdoors, meeting new friends and participating in non-stressful exercise. Each game lasts about 45 minutes.”

The club, located next to the Nambour Bowls Club, plays three times a week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 8.45am to noon.

Additionally, if you like to play Mah-jong, Patrick says there is a group who play each Monday morning at the club from 9am-noon.

“They will be happy to teach you the game,” he said. Cost is $4 and morning tea is provided.
