Club Yandina Celebrates 70th Anniversary with Retro Flair

All proceeds from the day, including food sales and green fees, were generously donated to Bloomhill Cancer Care, a testament to the club’s commitment to the community and making a difference.

The Yandina Bowls Club marked its 70th year in grand style on Sunday, rolling back the decades with a retro-inspired Memorial Day event.

Members and visitors flocked to the club’s premises at 30 Steggalls Road, turning the green into a nostalgic spectacle.

Invitations had encouraged attendees to don traditional white or plunge into the psychedelic palette of the 1970s, and the crowd didn’t disappoint.

Only traditional bowls were allowed. And these fit in nicely with the bell-bottoms and wide collars. The festivities kicked off with a barbecue lunch and some reflections on the club’s storied past. Participants took to the bowling green at 1.30pm, where the atmosphere was electric, blending old school techniques with modern passion.

But beyond the revelry, the event was underscored by a sense of charity. All proceeds from the day, including food sales and green fees, were generously donated to Bloomhill Cancer Care, a testament to the club’s commitment to the community and making a difference.

The event wasn’t just a nod to the past, but also a bright beacon for the future and a day to remember members lost through the year. Here’s to many more years of tradition, camaraderie, and community spirit at the Yandina Bowls Club. The event raised $1000 for Bloomhill Cancer Care.
